January 4, 2016

Lemon and warm water, simple and beneficial!

I can’t believe it took me so long to actually start doing this as a “first thing in the morning” ritual.

I noticed, since practicing this simple ritual, that I rarely feel the need to drink coffee or even tea in the morning, my digestion seems to have improved and I generally feel better. Also I feel less susceptible to common colds and this is just a few months in!

Simply squeeze half a lemon, organic if possible, in a glass or mug of warm spring / filtered water and drink 🙂

This is a great way to start your cleanse after the holiday binge

The health benefits of lemons are due to its many nourishing elements like vitamin C, vitamin B6, vitamin A, vitamin E, folate, niacin thiamine, riboflavin, pantothenic acid, copper, calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, zinc, phosphorus and protein.

The flavonoids that lemons contain are composites that contain antioxidant and cancer fighting properties.

Lemons help to prevent diabetes, constipation, high blood pressure, fever, indigestion and many other problems, as well as improving the skin, hair, and teeth.

Lemons are alkaline and decrease the acidity in your body, removing uric lemonsacid from your joints thus reducing inflammation

They help eliminate toxins from the body aiding in digestion and the antioxidants they contain help to not only decrease blemishes, but wrinkles too!

Helps weight loss – adding this will inevitably crowd out coffee and other beverages that may contain sugar (more calories), and drinking water, hot or cold, with or without lemon, keeps the metabolism efficient.

Lemons replenish body salts, especially after a strenuous workout.

The Vitamin C boosts your immune system making you less susceptible to colds. The level of vitamin C in your system is one of the first things to plummet when you’re stressed.

Its high potassium level helps nourish brain and nerve cells.

Wow! Those are just some of the benefits of lemons…

It is important to note that when lemon comes into direct contact with your teeth, it may ruin the enamel. Always consume it in a diluted form or rinse your mouth after direct contact.

So, who is ready to start adding this to your morning routine? Please share your experiences and thoughts …
